**Over the weekend we had an awesome time with friends and family as we celebrated Dexter's 5th birthday. Seriously, super super fun!! Having the party at a park with just cupcakes, lemonade and friends makes for a whole lot of playing, enjoying and just a good ol' birthday bash!
...there was abundant amounts of cupcakes eaten, tire swing pushes, high fives, bubbles blown, trees climbed and smiles spread across faces!
...and to top off the night...there's nothing like a supper at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries for our 5 year old guy...and his 5 year old buddy!!
Like I said....SERIOUSLY a super super fun day for the entire family! Brian, yes...Papa, even mentioned on the drive home that this was the best birthday party ever. I guess I better start thinking of what to do next year NOW...because this one sure will be hard to top!!
*** We are so lucky to have our extended family in town! Brian's sister and her kiddos and hubby are here(and numerous other family members too!) and it's pretty much cousin-pa-looza every minute we are together! These kids are all at the perfect age and have the best relationship that it's like picking up right where they left off last summer. Boys will be boys, big brothers play awesome with all the littles and the cousin goodness overflows!!
...and the fact Grandma and Grandpa have a pool...it's also pool party almost every minute we're together!!
...that is until you need a snack....IN THE POOL...or out at the kid's table (which ever so happily includes parents to dote on the wee littles) which of course is only steps away from the pool!! NOTE: the goggles and swimsuits still on stand by for a quick dip upon finishing supper :) (CLICK on photos to see them bigger)
It has been so much fun watching these kiddos(and us adults too) play together. I wish we all lived closer together, I really do. I guess we need to work on that. Summers in WI....hmmmm how could that work?? I'd do it in just about a heartbeat!!
*** and because this post is all about random thoughts....how about this.... I've been wondering...is it just me or am I a little freakish for changing out my kitchen hand towel multiple times a day. Not like twice but like 4 (or more shhhh)times a day?? If it's moist, crumpled on the counter, on the floor, given to me from a child's hand...I toss it in the laundry. I don't know how it got moist, where it's been or what it's wiped.
I'm not a germ-a-phobe by any means, but towels....that's my thing! Go ahead...just call me a freak! I've come to terms with my towel weirdness....I think. :)
*** OH....I finally knuckled under and bought a pair of skinny jeans....on major clearance at Target of course. I resisted for so long, but $4, FOUR DOLLARS...I couldn't resist!! AND...I've actually wore them TWICE since buying them. Dare I even say that they looked pretty awesome too. Coupled with my red flats from the clothing swap and a repurposed post baby sling turned hipster scarf, of course. Amazing, I know....I'm breaking out of the frumpy mom closet folks!!
***oh and it's berry season!! Our mulberry tree is producing like mad and I know one little guy who couldn't be happier!!
*** and I'm happy to leave you with just a tad more freakishness....check out this "Put your hands in the air" car dance party that we held right in our cozy dance floor of a Mothership!! Looking in that little mirror and seeing little two year old hands in the air makes me laugh out loud every time!! These boys are seat dancing fools!! Wonder where they get that from??? :)
*** and SERIOUSLY....who's the freak that writes a blog post this long thinking that people will actually read the entire thing??? OH YEAH, that's right....IT'S ME!!!
